OUR STORY

Hillmann Pediatric Therapy has been providing high-quality pediatric therapy services for over 30 years. Founded by Brenda Hillmann as an individual contractor, the company has grown into a team of over 50 dedicated professionals serving children and families across Northern Illinois.

While we began with school-based occupational and physical therapy, our services have expanded to include outpatient clinics in Will and DeKalb counties. At our clinics, we offer occupational, physical, and speech therapy in a supportive, child-focused environment. Our clinic-based services are designed to help children build skills, confidence, and independence through evidence-based, play-centered interventions.

Our mission is to focus on assisting every child to meet their maximum potential!

Meet Our Feeding Team

Pediatric feeding therapy is a specialized service designed to support children who experience difficulties with eating, drinking, or swallowing. Our compassionate and experienced therapists work closely with families to create individualized treatment plans that address a wide range of challenges, from sensory aversions and oral-motor delays to medical or developmental pediatric feeding disorders. We also offer lactation and infant feeding support to help families navigate breastfeeding, bottle feeding, and early feeding transitions with confidence. Through play-based, engaging sessions, we help children build positive mealtime experiences, improve their ability to safely consume a variety of foods, and foster lifelong healthy eating habits for kids of all ages. At the heart of our approach is a commitment to empowering both children and caregivers with the tools they need for success at the table and beyond.

SOS = Sequential Oral Sensory

The SOS Approach integrates principles from motor, oral, behavioral, medical, sensory, and nutritional perspectives to provide a comprehensive understanding of why a child may be struggling with eating. This approach focuses on helping children progress through a series of developmental steps toward eating, starting with simply tolerating the presence of food and gradually moving toward touching, smelling, tasting, and eventually eating it.

Why Choose SOS Approach to Feeding?

  • Holistic approach to feeding integrating motor, oral-motor, learning, medical, sensory and nutritional factors to identify underlying deficits

  • Prioritizes intrinsic motivation

  • Allows child to interact with food in a playful, non-stressful way by using “Playing with a Purpose” philosophy

  • Teaches parents about the “Myths of Eating” that interfere with understanding feeding problems

  • Uses a systematic desensitization approach to feeding treatment

  • Food hierarchies and choices are grounds for developing a plan of care

  • Encourages families to use a consistent routine at the table to support the child’s regulation and engagement before introducing food

  • Fosters parent education and training throughout the process

Testimonials

Exceptional !

“Our experience with Hillmann Pediatric Therapy was exceptional and life-changing for our son and our family as a whole. The staff is kind and helpful, and our son looked forward to his session all week long. Our therapists provided our son with the tools and strategies he needed to reach his goals and gave us the coaching we needed to implement these strategies in our home.  Hillmann’s whole family approach and care for our son was above and beyond our expectations. “
